With the 60D Canon has definitely moved the EOS range out of the 'semi pro' bracket. Rather than being a direct upgrade replacement for the 50D, the new EOS 60D is perhaps better understood as a 'Super EOS'.
Like other Canon DSLR models, the EOS 60D features Live View Mode with Auto Focus capabilities. However, thanks to the EOS 60D's new vari-angle screen – which opens out to the side and rotates 180 degrees – users can capture images they could not take before with Live View.
The EOS 60D is also the first Canon EOS camera to feature four new creative filters, promising lots of fun and more opportunities to experiment and express yourself creatively. In addition, EOS 60D offers full manual control while shooting video, allowing users to shoot a variety of subjects in different lighting situations and experiment with a range of creative effects.

Pros and cons of the EOS 60D compared to Canon EOS 50D and other SLR:

Pros:

• Significantly high resolution : 18MP (effective)
• Dual anti-reflection articulated LCD panel
• Light and small : 755g with battery and memory card
• Smaller grip, with a nice indentation just inside the grip to help improve your hold.

Cons:

• Burst shooting falls to 5.3 frames per second (6.3 frames per second in the EOS 50D)
• No lens AF Microadjustment custom function which would allow to tune the camera's autofocus to compensate (for lenses that back or front-focus).
